The recent inclusion of the UK commercial channels into the UI and search for the BBC iPlayer also showed me something else that was very clear. In iPlayer, you see a wealth of content with some blackspots of programmes that are not available such as Films and Sports. This is a tragedy but a commercial reality when it comes to bought in programming. However in the iPlayer view for the commercial services, you see a whole lot more missing programmes including homegrown stuff where it is obvious that streaming rights have not been obtained. The amount of content missing is so bad as to make ‘ITV’ catchup services utterly useless because if you did miss something live, through +1 service or your PVR missed recording it, then you were extremely unlikely to find it on the catchup service.
I wonder when or if this will every be rectified… or is this the Youview secret weapon?
I must stop going on about Youview
