Well it definitely seems that Orange has much deeper problems than whether it would launch an IPTV service, and it is not hard to see that the reasons for the full-on suspension of the IPTV service launch was not down to ourely competitiveness issues. It seems that Orange in the UK is on the brink of a massive re-engineering of its business in the face of the current financial situation and the state of the UK Broadband and Mobile sector. Even the mention of the possible shutdown of the broadband side of the business shows that someone has at least thought about in my book, which is a pretty sad state to be in. The halting of the acquisition discussions between Sky and Tiscali is also disturbing in that context. Are we going to see real turmoil in Broadband in Q1 2009? Not just the phantom changes at Virgin (which were leftover merger changes from the NTL and Telewest join).
