I promised to return and talk about the 3D VOD/EPG demonstrator shown on the Eventis stand. As you can see from the pictures, it offers a very simple effect that is much more effective in person.
It does offer a novel way of providing you with information about the movie or giving you a foreground in which to operate whilst video (promo or other) is shown in the background.
However, the whole technology of stereoscopic 3D is questionable depending on how it makes the viewer feel.
I myself felt that everything was a little out of focus and there was a distinct feeling of disorientation with it. This was just me of course, and it may not be felt by everyone who watches this sort of technology but I would like to see results of a study into long term viewing of programming in this format.
