It was a first for me in all my time going to IBC and other exhibitions/conferences – seizure of goods due to legal issues with implemented technology. You hear about it happening in the press, but here at IBC2008 it was the first time that I witnessed the event.
I could not pick up all of the reasons for it, but there was definitely a problem with a small number of devices that NEOTION produces. All a little bit exciting, especially seeing the luminously green clad Police motorcyclist striding through Hall 1 of IBC2008 towards the stand, the furtive and stressed conversations of how this could happen, and also the query about the timing of the seizure – at the COB Friday before the weekend, when little or no action could be taken.
