There was much discussed at the Mobile TV, hit or miss forum about why Mobile TV is not working in the UK but I would not limit the reasons to those based on geography alone.
I see the problem is more to do with how people actually travel to/from work and how long that commute actually is. In the UK and in many Western countries, commuting is largely done in cars where the use of video devices is decidedly not a good idea. Audio however is a runaway success because that is more conducive to the most popular commuting mode. This is reflected in overall use of electronic devices, where the watching of video while mobile is very restricted to a small niche group but MP3 players are extremely popular.
At the root however (even in Korea) is the fact that when you are mobile, the one sense that you do not want pre-occupied is your vision. The Darwin prize is available to all those who preoccupy themselves with video devices whilst transporting themselves in the modern world. Some have even said that occupying your hearing is lethal enough, but I do not agree with that.
This is before you go anywhere near whether anyone would really ever pay for video content on a grand scale.]]>
